Everyone likes to talk about Oprah. It is natural to talk about famous people and to be concerned for them and their welfare. Oprah comes to our living rooms everyday for some 20-years now and she’s #1 on Forbes List of top earning celebrities.
When this shocking picture of
surfaced, it was cause for concern about women’s feet and women’s shoes. In this gender based society that we occupy, designers of women’s shoes have sometimes only focused on style, fashion and not comfort. It seems that little consideration has been given to the long hours that some celebrities or women stand on their feet daily.
The statement “walk-a-mile in my shoes” would be very painful for some shoe designers but they design these narrow shoes on very high heels or platforms and consumers rush for style, “toe stretchers” and forego comfort. While one’s genetic makeup is responsible for the design and structure of one’s foot, it can be argued that shoes and how they fit can play a huge role on beautiful healthy feet or the state of the foot.
Nike the world’s largest maker and distributor of athletes’ shoes would be the first place to look when basket ballers and other performance athletes look for shoes to wear and endorse. Athletic shoes are made based on the type of athletic activity that’s involved so that the fit of the shoes conforms to the rigors of that sport. A soccer star would not wear a basketball shoe to play his sport on the soccer field.
Therefore, it is important that from your child’s first shoes, you should be mindful of the fact that shoes play a critical role on shaping growing feet. This is why special shoes are made to correct some forms of “club feet” in very young children. So, it is very possible that Oprah’s feet could have been shaped when she was very young by not wearing proper fitting shoes in her early days but you can use her feet as an example to develop your shoe shopping guide.

Toe stretchers are good but I don’t know how good they are on adults feet in terms of altering the foot shape but they may help feet to feel better in shoes. I know that it’s better to try to correct feet problems while those feet are still growing and are in a position to be shaped.
I’ve always argued with my friends that if men had to wear the shoes that are created for womens feet, there would be an outraged. Recent falls by Miss USA while walking in these high heels on a marble floor is a clear indication of my argument. This woman could have injured her back from what would seem to a very simple fall. This is the second year in a row that a Miss USA falls in the Miss Universe contest but no one has done anything about the surface these women have to walk on in this competition.
Oprahs feet look to me to be a case of wearing tight and uncomfortable shoes for years so this is the result. That said, Oprah should accept that her feet are not the most beautiful in the world in completely open shoes such as these that she is wearing in the photos. Just as we dress to cover our body flaws, we should also wear shoes to hide flaws - why accentuate ugly and unattractive feet?
