Oprah, USA talk show host giant and Forbes List entrepreneur has just concluded her Kathy Freston Inspired 21-day cleanse. For someone like Oprah, it was hard because she was forced to give up alcohol, gluten breads, caffeine, sugar and animal products. After her run in with Texas beef industry, we know that she’s definitely a meat eater and lover.
One cannot help but wonder though about this Kathy Freston’s book Quantum Wellness that inspired Oprah to go on this three week journey. There’s another writer, Roni DeLuz (founder of the Martha’s Vineyard Holistic Retreat) with James Hester - 21 Pounds in 21 Days “Get your Health in Shape” that makes you wonder if this was the actual source of Oprah Winfrey’s inspiration.
Roni and James talk about feeding yourself as often as every two hours, sometimes sooner, if you are hungry, to avoid starving your body, disregarding hungry only to experience the diet yo-yo effect. This way of eating food allows you to eat only enough to burn off in a two hour time span before eating again.
Is this what Oprah was hoping to achieve by using Kathy Freston’s book? It appears that Oprah has finally realized that her yo-yo dieting could be extremely detrimental to her health. Also, it should be pointed out that her audience seem to follow her lead in a lot of cases so she could be teaching some deadly diet lessons by example.
Is Oprah searching for the fountain of youth or good health? Either one can be derived from the process that she has just experienced, if she can apply it to her everyday routine. However, it is doubtful that she will be able to do so given her love of food and eating.
Oprah could benefit from reading another book, The Four Agreements “Wisdom Book” - A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz. She may be especially interested in the Toltec Path to (personal) Freedom which talks about “breaking old agreements”.
A lot of people who are overweight including celebrities have some psychological problems that they are attempting to satisfy or mask with a food addiction. Stop treating the outcome and treat the cause - this may be the best tactic to apply in order to fully accomplish the right result - transformation.

I just wanted to stop by to say that The four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is a very useful book, if you are experiencing stress in your life. Reading it helped me in a difficult job situation that I needed to cope with and was not handling very well. I sought help from a therapist that recommended it to me. It shows you how to take ownership only for yourself and not to take things that other people do personally. It definitely helped me to put my situation in perspective and gave me the skills to manage my stress to my advantage. It’s a must read even if you don’t have any stressful situation as I believe knowledge is power so set about to arm yourself.
